FAQ's

Who are you and what do you do?
We're a small independent record label operating out of Lurgan, Northern Ireland since 2003. We literally have no money and things are very tight but we try our best to put music out that we believe in. We're also proudly international in our out look for great new music. Our first full release was by the wonderful Japanese trio The Routes. We were born in 2003 and love Garage Rock, Punk Blues, Rock n Roll, Surf etc, you know... the good music.

You've started using Storenvy, why? Simply put, its tidier and offers our customers more protection and hopefully a familiar user interface. Our programming skillz are awful and over the years we've had different versions of our store and none of them have be very good. The whole Storenvy thing is completely integrated with Paypal so you guys should see little or no difference. check it out here

If you where at a party which party goer would you be?
You know the drunk guy who turned up with your sister, you don't know if he's cool or not then he proceeds to drink all the booze, take control of the stereo and tries to chat up all the women and then leaves around 1a.m. saying things like

"this party is shit, I'm off to find some decent people who have read a book that wasn't the Ikea catalogue and listen to some music that wasn't made by a computer you bunch of fucking robotic shitehawks" flips the middle finger as he backs out the door taking your little sister with him
or
"Jesus thats 2 hours of my life I'll never get back"
or the classic
"Fuck all y'all and the fucking donkey you rode in on"

Thats us, pure charming and a little dangerous!

Can we send you a demo?
Yes please send whatever you like, we find they impress us most when they are wrapped in a pile of £20 notes. Seriously though, you know the type of stuff we're into so please don't waste your money sending us anything that obviously doesn't suit us but we do promise to listen and drop you a line back with our opinion should you want it. Sometimes we get demos we love and just do not have the money to release them, we hate passing up quality and it has happened a few times but if we haven't got the means we just can't do it.

Well what does suit you big mouth?
Ok, ok don't get bolshy. We dig Garage, Rock n Roll, Surf, Garage Punk, Rock n Soul, Garage/Punk Blues type of stuff. If we used one word it would have to be "Raw" so don't concern yourself with the quality of your demo. We find that self produced records are the things that turn us on the most for example The Routes, The Bonnevilles and Rock n Roll Monkey & The Robots albums are all self produced sometimes on equipment that should have been binned years ago, but the passion of the bands comes across in the final record.

Can I work for you?
Ha, ha did you not read the points above, we've no money but if you want to live in my shed and work for free, yeah? Or you could help us online with promo work and helping spread the good word, we can set you up with a Motor Sounds email address (if we like you) and set you to work.

Do you really only charge £1 for shipping worldwide?
Yep, its true, we make a loss generally on that but we love you so much that we suck it up

Can I buy your records in my local record shop?
Probably not, we used to have a distribution deal with a big company but they proved to be less than useless so we had to drop them but if you have a decent record store in mind pass their details on to us and we'll contact them with our trade prices. We're looking at another distro deal with a more suitable company at the minute that should see Motor Sounds Records available to all the beautiful people across the world real soon.

I need to contact you, can I do that?
Oh yeah, all our details are right there on the contacts page.

Can I Skype you?
Yes, no problem. but please don't be mental or try to kill me. Our Skype name is motorsoundsrecords

Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, we use paypal which offers secure payments and pretty much accepts any type of card. It also offers an amount of protection for you.

What other methods do you accept?
Cheques, postal orders, cash but please get in touch first about that and obviously we have to wait on payment to clear before we ship goods.

eBay?
Yep we have an eBay shop if you prefer to buy our junk that way, click here to go there.

I bought a Motor Sounds album and I don't like it, can I send it back for a refund?
No, fuck off.

But Amazon has a refund policy.
I'll fuck myself with the wide end of a ragmans trumpet before I give you your money back, on point of principle. Hug, Kiss.
